Today, Mayor Bowser announced a citywide 7:00 p.m. curfew for Washington, DC tonight and tomorrow night. Safeway and Giant have announced changes to operating hours as a result. Here’s what you need to know:
Safeway
- All Safeway stores in Washington, D.C. will close at 6pm tonight.
- Associates will be allowed to leave the store no later than 6:30pm
- Shifts that fall between 6pm and 6am are VOLUNTARY. Notify management if you do not feel comfortable working tonight.
- Associates will be paid for missed hours/shifts
Giant
- All Giant stores in Washington, D.C. will close at 7pm tonight
- Workers will be given essential worker letters for their commute home
- Night shift employees should contact store management for alternate shift times
- All employees will be paid for missed hours/shifts
