Today, UFCW Local 400 President Mark Federici sent letters to the governors of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee, as well as the mayor of the District of Columbia, calling on them to allocate money from the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill to fund hazard pay for essential workers.
The letters call on state leaders to “direct payments to grocery, distribution, law enforcement, and other workers who have never been given the option to stay home and instead sacrificed the health and safety of themselves and their families so that others had the opportunity be safe, healthy, and fed.”
