COLLEGE PARK, Md. (November 10, 2022) – Today, workers at MOM’s Organic Market in College Park, Md. announced plans to unionize with United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400. The workers filed for an election with the National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday.
The workers organizing committee released the following statement announcing the effort:
“We, the workers of MOM’s Organic Market College Park, are unionizing! We have filed for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and we are confident we will soon become the next store to unionize. We are grateful for the support of our customers and the greater College Park community – we know you have our backs. We look forward to voting for our union when we receive our election date from the NLRB, and negotiating our first contract alongside the other MOM’s Organic Market stores that have recently unionized.”
The College Park store is the third MOM’s Organic Market to file for a union election. An election date has yet to be determined by the NLRB. In August, workers at a Baltimore store in Hampden voted overwhelmingly in favor of unionizing with the Teamsters, and today, workers at the MOM’s Organic Market in Timonium will vote in a union election as well.
