Contract Bargaining Update from UFCW Local 400 & UFCW Local 27:
As we negotiate our first contract for Kaiser Permanente therapists, we are committed to keeping you updated every step of the way.
Last week, we filed charges against KP through the National Labor Relations Board over their failure to bargain in good faith and provide us with the information we need to make economic proposals.
While we have made some progress, since the start of the year KP has refused to give us information and canceled meetings at the last minute.
We have let KP management know that this is unacceptable. In addition to filing charges against them, we have asked for an outside facilitator to join our negotiations to help move things along.
We have tentative agreements on many issues regarding working conditions, but nothing is final until we have a full tentative agreement on all issues. We are also very excited that our colleagues in Utilization Management will be joining our union and will have a representative on our bargaining team moving forward.
As we begin to negotiate over economic issues, such as pay and benefits, we will continue to keep you informed about what steps you can take to support the team at the bargaining table. We are all in this together and we won’t stop until we have a contract that we can all be proud of.
