Following votes taken on Friday, July 19, UFCW Local 400 members at Shoppers voted 98% in favor of ratifying a strong new union contract!
The new two-year collective bargaining agreement has many improvements, including:
- Better pay scales
- Top-of-scale pay raises of $2.20 per hour over the life of the contract
- No out-of-pocket cost increases or other changes in health care
- Fully funded pension
- Four weeks vacation after 12 years instead of 13 years
- New language to develop procedures, trainings, and protocols that protect workers in case of a shooting, other violent attack, or other similar emergency
We’d like to thank the members of our bargaining advisory committee for their work in reaching this agreement. Taken together, they have nearly 128 years of combined experience in the stores, and it was this wisdom that helped us to reach a strong contract. Thank you Christy Bennett (Shoppers #2672), Debra Coleman (Shoppers #2632), Kevin Freeman (Shoppers #2618), Alvaro Grande (Shoppers #2646), and Sheila Jurek (Shoppers #2657).
The new contract takes effect retroactively to July 14, 2024, and expires July 11, 2026. Download the highlight sheet to review an outline of all changes to the contract.
