Following votes taken in stores this week, UFCW Local 400 members working at Kroger under our Richmond/Tidewater collective bargaining agreement voted 362–17 (96%) to ratify a new union contract.
By standing together we won a good contract that includes:
- Better pay
- Reduction in the number of hours needed to reach and maintain top pay
- No changes to weekly health insurance premiums
- More paid time off
- Better safety measures in stores
- A commitment from Kroger to meet with us and a federal mediator before the end of August to resolve the issues around them failing to recognize the Union at several stores in Virginia Beach and Richmond
Many thanks to our outstanding bargaining advisory committee: Stuart Martin, Lead Receiver, Kroger #514; Marjorie Mathena, Floral Clerk, Kroger #532; James Sims, Meat Clerk, Kroger #503; LaChae Taliaferro, Front-end Back-up, Kroger #575; Claudia Villalobos, Cashier, Kroger #515; and Lavin Williams, E-Commerce Clerk, Kroger #509.
The new three-year agreement takes effect retroactively to August 4, 2024 and expires July 31, 2027. Download the highlight sheet to review an outline of all changes to the contract.
