Union Sister Running in 80th District in Henrico County, Va.
Praising her as a union sister who always puts working people first, United Food & Commercial Workers Local 400 today endorsed Destiny LeVere Bolling for the Virginia House of Delegates from the 80th District.
Currently communications director for the Virginia AFL-CIO, LeVere Bolling also chairs the Virginia State Conference NAACP’s Labor and Industry Committee.
“Destiny isn’t just an advocate for our members and all working Virginians; she is one of us, someone who knows first-hand the need for rising living standards, health and retirement security, and a strong voice in the workplace,” said UFCW Local 400 President Mark P. Federici.
“Destiny understands the issues before us, she is a brilliant communicator, and she is an unstoppable force for solidarity,” Federici said. “I know she’ll be a dynamic and effective legislator who gets things done and makes a profound, positive difference in people’s lives. I am proud to call her my friend and my sister, and our members will lay it all on the line for her to win the Democratic primary on June 20th and the general election on November 7th.”
Before working for the Virginia AFL-CIO, LeVere Bolling worked as an educator teaching students in underserved communities. A volunteer in her church, she is also a member of Virginia’s Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Commission, the Northern Neck Baptist Association’s Youth Advisory Council, and Secretary of the Board of The Commonwealth Institute. She is running on a platform of expanding access to affordable health care, delivering a world-class public education system, closing the digital divide, and empowering workers in her District across the Commonwealth.
The 80th District covers part of Henrico County north of central Richmond.
