Local 400 Volunteers and Members Propel Allies to Victory
Virginia workers were the winners in the 2023 elections for state Senate and House of Delegates.
With control of both legislative chambers on the line, UFCW Local 400 volunteers and members helped retain a pro-worker majority in the Senate and regained a pro-worker majority in the House. Both will serve as a firewall to stop the anti-worker policies advocated by Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
“Our members fought for and elected pro-worker candidates who will fight for us in the Virginia General Assembly for the next two years,” said UFCW Local 400 President Mark P. Federici. “By going door to door, operating phone banks, holding rallies and taking part in other efforts to inform voters about where the contenders stand on the issues affecting our lives, Local 400 member-activists made a huge difference in electing most of our recommended candidates and in securing pro-worker majorities in the House and Senate.
“Their hard work is testimony to the fact that elections have consequences, and that our investment in electing our allies will pay dividends in pro-worker policies that have a positive impact on our members’ lives,” he added.
