Kroger Bargaining Update #4
Despite negotiating 12 hours a day every day this week, we have not yet reached what we feel is the best deal. We’ve made a lot of progress so far, but as we have said from the beginning, our goal is to get the best contract we can, regardless of how long it takes.
With that in mind, today we agreed to extend our current contract until May 7, 2016. This means that all of the protections and benefits we have in our current collective bargaining agreement remain in effect.
During this five-week extension, we will be working hard to resolve the important issues we still face in a way that we think is fair and best for all of us. We have worked long hours through difficult days, but we will never agree to a bad deal just because of the date on the calendar – not when there is more work to be done.
It will take all of us sticking together to get a fair contract. We appreciate that you’ve had our backs throughout this process. Your willingness to do whatever it takes to get a fair deal is what makes progress possible. We’ll continue to keep you updated and let you know how you can help.
Together, we can do this.
Onward,
UFCW Local 400 Bargaining Team
