Contract Meeting and Vote Scheduled for November 6
After weeks of negotiations, six store actions involving hundreds of members, and working until expiration for a fair deal, we still have work to do to get the best possible agreement. At the direction of the federal mediator, we have agreed to extend our current contract until November 4, while we continue to work for a fair deal. While we are committed to continuing to work with Kroger for a contract that works for all of us, we will not allow Kroger to force us to continue negotiating indefinitely with the uncertainty of not having a new agreement.
We will be having contract meetings on Monday, November 6 where we will vote on whatever proposal is on the table from Kroger at that time. If the proposal is voted down, we will take a strike vote. A strike is not the outcome that we want. What we want is a fair contract. But we need Kroger to know that we are serious and ready to do whatever it takes to win the contract we deserve.

Between now and November 6, with the federal mediator, we have scheduled dates to meet with Kroger to work on getting the best deal possible. In the meantime, we will continue to organize actions in our stores and in our communities. We need everyone to participate in these actions to continue to show Kroger that we are willing to fight for the contract we have earned. We will also begin to prepare ourselves in the event that Kroger forces us to go on strike. We will share information very soon to help you prepare, but this is our last resort, and we will use every means available to us before taking that drastic step.
